Nourishing Growing Bodies with Whole Food Snacks
At Barefoot and Wild Forest School, we believe that just like children need rich experiences to feed their minds and hearts, they also need nourishing, whole foods to fuel their growing bodies. Our snacks are meant to energize, not overload — offering natural fuel for big adventures, creative play, and long hours outdoors.
We focus on offering seasonal, whole food snacks—fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, and simple ingredients that reflect what’s growing and thriving in nature around us. When possible, we talk with the children about where their food comes from and how it helps their bodies grow strong, think clearly, and move with energy. Whether it’s carrots to help our eyes see better or berries full of antioxidants to support a hard-working immune system, snack time becomes a moment to connect with both nature and nourishment.
We want children to grow up with a healthy, joyful relationship with food — understanding that what we eat matters, and that real food from the earth is one of the best gifts we’ve been given.
